  • A new paradigm on Pictures...

I have recordings of this work by Richter, Janis, Horowitz, and Pennario (just to mention the piano versions). Khatia taks a very individual approach to the Pictures...it is truly new and different...it is overall much less bombastic.. The "fleeting" moments are there with precision and nimbleness. She has the technique to play it any way she desires. You may agree or disagree with her very specific take on the piece, but it IS individual and new and I, for one, find it very interesting. The Ravel and Stravinsky are played with more normal bravura, but the central work is Pictures. PS: the critics seem to hate her yet the fans and fellow musicians seem to love her...so she endures a lot of controversy. .
