Kill The Lights again and again and again….

Watching the HBO series “Vinyl” took me back to some great (and not so great) moments of the ’70’s and ’80’s but, solely because some of the stereotypical behaviors, sexist attitudes, drug use (and abuse) and overall excesses. But with everything and every moment, there was music, a sound, something that grabbed hold. When Clark had his mail room colleague’s DJ friend play a track from the “Indigo” LP (on vinyl, of course), it cleared the floor but I instantly recalled Lorraine Johnson’s “Feed The Flame”, Carl Bean’s “I was Born This Way” and any number of Nine Rodgers/Bernard Edwards productions. The percussion percolates, the bass line thumbs, the strings flow and I move from the top of my head to the “souls” of my feet. The Dmitri From Paris mix is the ultimate in taking every cue from the era yet keeps it fresh. To Alex Newell, DJ Cassidy and the awesomely talented Jess Glynne, this is going to difficult to top but keep it coming!
