I had to check my Sirius twice because I thought Peter Gabriel had a new song I'd never heard. Low and behold, nope. Love the sound.

May I Have This Dance is straight Phil Collins and I’m LIVING for it.

The lyrics, the music, the beat, the sheer joy of his magic dance wizardry... "Can I say something crazy? I love you"

i had not heard of him until chance the rapper’s coloring book mixtape, and when i saw his name, i just denounced it as another feature on a feature heavy album. however, i just recently saw him open for chance the rapper on the be encouraged tour. his odd and quirky, yet somehow captivating and lovable stage presence fascinated me. i fell in love with the music he was playing as it really fit him as an artist. after the show, i had to really see what francis and the lights was really about. first i watched some of his music videos and once again fell in love with the one take almost improvised style of the videos, especially in the may i have this dance and see her out videos. then i finally listened to this album in full. it was one of the most worthwhile listening experiences i’ve had in a while. every song is unique yet somehow the same, and the stories told are fascinating. i can safely add francis and the lights to my pretty long list of favorite artists. can’t wait for the next album!

An innovative, individual talent that deserves a broader audience. Hope that happens for the benefit of all music lovers...
  • Prince would be proud

Obviously a fan of the mercurial purple one, Francis takes the best falsetto, the funkiest bass lines, dreamiest synths and some of the ghosts that Prince left behind and makes it all his own. Add in a dash of Peter Gabriel and a pinch of Randy Newman for good measure. With Farewell Starlite!, we get invited to another party that moves quickly onto the dance floor, then inside the complex mind of Mr Starlite and back again. One can only wonder where Francis might take us in the years to come.
  • Sweet Album

I've listened to this album 5 times in the last 24 hours, and I'm going for a sixth. He sounds strangely (wonderfully) like an indie electronic version of Phil Collins. I love that each song sounds different than the last. My favorites right now are probably May I Have This Dance and It's Alright To Cry. Such a good album. Can't wait to see where this band goes.
  • Awesome show in Oakland tonight!
