I normally do not write reviews... But.... Having recently come through a year of extreme mental stress from a painful divorce, the loss of many things which were important to me (including the passing of my father), being uprooted and forced to move, and experiencing unrelenting pain from many medical surgeries, I had given up hope and my love of music. Today August 25, 2019, my love and passion for music came back into my life. ...A quick summary: I studied conducting privately for 2 1/2 years with a Russian conductor (who conducted the Leningrad Philharmonic under the watchful eye of Marvinsky), studied composing, and have a Bachelors degree in music with a concentration in piano and keyboard instruments. Today, I put in my AirPods, to shut out the world and again experience the love I had for music, which has been absent from my life for so long. I unboxed my Gustav Mahler’s Sixth Symphony score, and was studying the first movement. At the end of that, Khatia’s, newest recording of Schubert, completed downloading and I started playing the first movement of Piano Sonata No. 21 in B-Flat D. 960. Slowly my eyes filled with tears as the soulful beauty of Khatia’s playing gently spoke to my heart. Tears continued to slowly flow down my face as the 2nd movement of this Sonata filled my world. I put my iPhone on “repeat”, sat down, and sobbed as my musical emotions were allowed to flood over me once more. Thank you Khatia for the love, expression, and healing you share with all of us through your music. I am grateful you have helped to release my desire, passion, and love 💕 for music 🎶 once more.
