Love Accentuate the positive. Wish she would sing more in that range. All the other songs fall short to me. If you’re gonna sing Aretha you’ve got to put the work in. The acting in the film was excellent. Hope she gets a nod.

Jennifer Hudson killed it in the movie Respect. The way she sang Aretha’s songs was unique to her voice but didn’t take away from Aretha’s versions. She was pure genius. Congratulations Jennifer Hudson.

Love the movie & this soundtrack. Some of these songs take me wayyyy back. Jennifer has a unique voice & she added her uniqueness to this album. I’m in my feelings when listening to these beautiful renditions of Aretha songs. JHud you did an awesome job!!!

Some of these reviews crack me up. Did y’all buy the album just to talk trash? I saw the movie and thought she did outstanding. Aretha’s sound can never be exactly duplicated, but Jennifer sang in a way that blended her voice with Aretha’s more forward quality.many of her spoken lines embodied this approach too.
I was nervous for this movie as I am a huge fan of Aretha and Jennifer respectively, and worried Jennifer would sing these songs too much like herself and not enough like Aretha, eclipsing the story and realism. She told the story beautifully and I had chills several times in the theatre.
Aretha is a legend, she wanted her story told and she wanted it told by Jennifer. Hate all you like, but Jennifer can SING, and did Aretha proud. This album will be on repeat for awhile.

Jennifer Hudson has an absolute beautiful powerful voice and she certainly did it justice in this soundtrack for Aretha Franklin I feel as though sometimes Jennifer is definitely underrated and overlooked I hope this changes thank you Jennifer for a job very well done and for the respect you gave to Aretha Franklin she would be proud of you

I normally do not write reviews, however, this one was an issued for me. As I sample listen to two songs for making a purchase, Ms Hudson's vocal sounds distorted. I am unclear if it "iTunes playback recording or if it was recorded and distributed that way. Are there anyone else hearing distortion in Ms Hudson's vocals.
