This album follows Dolly's Columbia debut "Rainbow" released in 1987 and is as the All Music Guide reviewer states, "It's her most even and best album for Sony." Dolly returned to her country roots interjecting her spiritual beliefs whereas her debut was an attempt in the flavor of her pop recordings for RCA, Smokey Robinson appears with Dolly on "Rainbow" for a cute duet. With this second album Dolly started seperating herself from her RCA radio pop and with each album after rediscovered her pure country roots ending up where it all started and where she belongs, with bare-bones bluegrass with sparse arrangements letting her voice ring through.
