This is a wonderful album. Sit down and take the time to go on this journey from start to finish.

This album should have never been released. It doesn't fit with her previous music. This was very disappointing.

I’ve been on Meshell fan since Plantation Lullabies so her first shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco. She was a young artist that showed potential then came with the masterpiece peace beyond passion. With collaborations from Lisa and Wendy, formally of Prince and the revolution.
Albums that follow these also we’re good. They had their bits and pieces of eclectic work but overall we’re good.
But this album is too far out there. Even certain musicians may not be able to get behind this. Feels more like a spoken word album than a musical album. I understand as an artist you go with the music takes you and you follow your instincts. But at some point, you do have to put some music on there for the average person, that can kind of get behind what you’re trying to do. This album here doesn’t do that if you’ve never heard Mishelle before and you heard this album you would never listen to her again. As the musical artist, you always wanna have a bigger audience. Meaning, do you want as many people to hear your music as humanly possible not drive them away. And I feel like that’s what this album is doing. It’s not doing her talent for her vision. Her life shows any justice. Much of it feels like throwaway material from the previous album.
Again, I’ve been a fan for very long time since her initial record and this one just falls flat for me as a listener. To hear what she’s done in the past and is capable of doing and has done her shows this doesn’t her talent or ability justice.
And that’s just an honest opinion from a longtime fan.
