You can definitely hear this album's influence on today's artists like Bruno Mars and Lettuce. Hancock is a true genius in whatever he records.

I've worn Thrust and Head Hunters out over the years, let me just say I'm a real dummy for waiting until now to explore the masterpieces that Man-Child and Secrets are.

The one and only man who knows funk. You can't go wrong with "Sun Touch" and "Bubbles". This is vintage 70's sound.

This album is amazing, and I'll repeat the obvious: Hancock is the funk MASTER. He bridged the gap between the jazz and blues roots of the early 20th century and the electro-funk of the future. The album as a whole is very strong, even its slower grooves are so deeply rooted in the funk that they shine through the murky swamp of the slow jams...the more upbeat numbers are some of the best funk workouts ever. And Steppin' In It is already a pinnacle of pure groove even BEFORE Stevie Wonder shows up to perform what I might have to call the baddest, most low-down harmonica groove I've ever heard. P.S. Stevie's work from the same period...essential...if you don't know it, you are missing out...all hail the 70's funk masters!

Herbie Hancock has the talent to pull something off like this. The Manchild Album and the Headhunters are two musical collaborations that are timeless in my opinion. The Suntouched cut is the perfect thing for the spiritaul wake up in the morning. the vein melter is mesmorizing and trance like in nature. It just goes to show that music can swing are moods. Just as it was intended too. The Angelic Spirits taught mankind how to use music to bring out diffrent moods in us human beings to keep a balance or in total chaos and Herbie Hancock has mastered this angelic skill over time.

Herbie Hancock is the greatest muscian on the planet earth! Man Child catches him in my favorite of his many phases, funk and jazz "fused" onto a level that cannot be described in words.

I felt like I was on the moon while I listened to this album the first time. There was nothing I could do but dance. This music is not just heard, it is felt. It goes straight into your blood.
