Some good songs, but overall, the magic is gone.

There's no doubt Eurythmics is one of the best and most influential rock bands of the 80s. But by "Revenge," their best days were behind them, as they moved away from experimental synth and hard rock and segued into the mainstream pop/rock that would characterize Annie Lennox's solo career. Furthermore, the songwriting here suffers as well. Whereas, on previous albums, nearly every song was interesting and cutting-edge, most of the material here is somewhat bland and innocuous. There's still enough decent music to (barely) warrant a three star rating. But unless you're a huge fan of the group, I would just download the album's hits and let the rest go.

I so remember when this album came out, a very exciting and fun time in my life so I have nothing but admiration for Annie and Dave, I'm a lifelong fan. I loved how they went in this more acoustic direction, it showed the depth of their talent and versatility. One of my top ten concerts of all time was in 1986 Eurythmics at the Pier in support of this record. In those days, videos really meant something and the video for 'Missionary Man' was no exception. When Annie came on stage in a leather bustier to deliver the song, it was a moment I'll never forget, as well as Dave's expert musicianship, one of the greatest guitarists I've ever seen play. The Pier was a venue on the Hudson river that no longer exists. I saw many a great show there including Cyndi Lauper, Chaka Kahn(twice) and Al Jarreau.
One of the better albums

This is the big highlight for Eurythmics. There are no bad songs whatsoever. "Missionary Man" is cool and catchy. "When Tomorrow Comes" is beautifully hopeful. "Miracle of Love" is an angelic message about the power of love. "A Little Of You" is also a beautiful masterpiece with "I Remember You". "Revenge 2" is better than the original.
Great Cd

I prefer Eurythmics as a synth band. With that being said, while this isn't their best effort (1984 For the Love of Big Brother and Touch are a lot better and my personal fav's). The track Revenge 2 doesn't even come close to the original on Eurythmics first album In the Garden. Trust me, download or purchase the original song Revenge.
OK... I Love it!!!!!!

When was the last time you heard a band play something completely different? I love it when Eurythmics did that. They also moved to another studio but they had more percussion than usual in this album. Unlike Sweet Dreams and Touch, eurytmics decided to add some rock drums. I am proud of this change. NOT SAYING THAT EURYTHMICS WAS BAD WHEN THEY HAD LESS PERCUSSION! I wish more bands could do the same...
definately not the norm, but
