I first heard this play in Makaha, Hawaii when I lived there after years in the Marines to cool out and acclimate to civilian life. If memory serves, Toyes was a local band; at least popular at local venues. The music also depicted a life style my friends and I were living at the time. Even though I don't smoke two joints in two years anymore, it's still fun to listen to and great for a party of those of us who had to grow out of it and become responsible - something we once blood oathed never to do! Good stuff!!!

For you novelty song purists, this is indeed the original 1983 version of "Smoke two joints" according to the band website, and it does sound exactly like the original. Not just a funny song, but great playing too...love that percussion. This was one of the most heavily requested songs at Oregon State University's radio station in the mid-80's (can't imagine why!), and it's great to hear it again.

What joy to discover the Toyes on Itunes. To hear these songs takes me back to high school and college. Very fun songs to relax, work, party, or mingle to. Now, with Monster Hash and Smoke Two Joints, I have the perfect compliment to Grand Master Flash's White Lines. I know one is Pro, the other Anti, but what great fun and party songs

I'm glad you're out there playing music but I thought you were a band out of Hono HI and your post says Orgon.... and what happened to all the original guys?? Well, keep up the cool tunes. We need 'em! PS - You should post the original EP up here in digital. I'd like to have it just for the collection even though the other songs sounded like styx (no offence)

I was surprised to see an album from The Toys on iTunes. I have an E.P. I picked up in 1983 when we gigged with them in Honolulu. Glad I can get thier songs digital! Great stuff and fun to listen to.

This is a pure joy. Pretty much every song will make you smile. Yes, the Toyes do choose to write half of their songs as if they were Cheech & Chong channeling Bob Marley, and so Monster Hash, for example -- while a great take on the classic Halloween novelty tune -- would be hard to explain to your 5-year-old. Still, for a breath of island beach freshness (via Oregon?) and some very clever turns of phrase, give 'em a try. They've been at it for at least 20 years, never sold out to be more commercial, and I think they've earned the $9.99.
