Kind of Blue

My one-star rating has nothing to do with this album. I love the album. I’ve purchased HUNDREDS of dollars worth of music from Apple (not rented—PURCHASED! I don’t pay for a monthly subscription. I PURCHASE albums/songs and download them TO OWN—PERMANENTLY) …and I’ve spent THOUSANDS of dollars on iPhones and MacBook Pros. Imagine my surprise when a few weeks ago I tried to play my KIND OF BLUE album, which I’ve owned for the past fews years having previously purchased it from Apple thru iTunes, only to find it MISSING from my iTunes library. I didn’t delete it but it was GONE. In its place when I tried to play it was a pop-up window stating that this album wasn’t available for play in my area (something to that effect). I thought it might be a glitch that would go away but it went on for a few weeks so I recently purchased this album again. There has been one other album this happened with and I had thought then that it was a one-time glitch so I just repurchased that album. Now that it’s happened again, I know this isn’t a one-time thing. These incidents (a THEFT of my PURCHASED personal property) makes me wonder how many other albums I’ve purchased that Apple has somehow later deleted from my device and I haven’t discovered it yet (presumably so I will spend my money and buy it again). If I find that it happens again, I’ll trash my iPhone, MacBook Pro, all accounts with Apple and be done with them. I’ll switch to the other guys. I don’t like thieves.

I have 2 copies of this lp and it is classic listening. There’s a reason why it’s 60 years old and still at the top of the charts. Love him or hate him, but Miles was a genius.

There isn’t much to say about this album that hasn’t already been said. This was the album that got me into one of my favorite genres of music: jazz, and I have to give it credit not only for that but also for the genius compositions on here. Track reviews: Side one: 1. I love this album and I own it in many forms. This particular recording is so bad you can practically hear your drunk uncle putting the LP on the turntable. There’s a scratchy quality to the recording and an ever present hiss. Buy Kind of Blue in ANY OTHER FORM, ANY OTHER MIX. Do not buy this particular version. Even at $6.99 it’s heartbreaking that they’re ruining Miles Davis, his musical companions and all their great work.

Just amazing. If I were stranded on a desert island this is the one I would bring.

If you’re looking for peaceful music to listen to while studying or relaxing, you can’t go wrong with Miles Davis. I just bought this in honor of Jimmy Cobb who just passed away at age 91. He was the drummer of Davis’ sextet. I’d say this is a must have.
