Orff: Carmina Burana

Really good recording. The choirs (especially the children) are soloists are great. The tempos are pretty good, too. Pronunciation of the Latin texts is the correct German style (a rarity among recordings of this work). Just one thing is missing, though, and it's a big one. The stroke of the gong that introduces the recap of "O Fortuna" at the end ISN'T THERE. The most dramatic note in the work is just left out! I suspect an editor recycled the first movement. A shame, because otherwise this is a near-perfect performance.

A phenomenal and inspired collection of music. The performance is powerful and amazing too.

I like to play O Fortuna when I'm trying to kill the mosquito flying around my room.

I believe that Carl Orff is absolutely one of the most God Gifted orchestral composers of all time. Wonderfully done.
