I have been a fan of Little Charlie & the Nightcats for a long time now and have seen them live a number of times. When I heard that Little Charlie Baty had chosen to no longer tour, I was very disappointed that I would no longer get to hear or see Little Charlie & the Nightcats perform anymore. A couple of months later I was thrilled to hear that Rick Estrin, harmonica player, lead singer and founding member with Charlie Baty of the band had decided to continue touring under the name Rick Estrin and the Nightcats. I saw them live a couple of days ago and they are just as good as they have ever been. J. Hansen on drums and Lorenzo Farrell on bass are still doing a great job and Kid Andersen is a worthy successor to the guitar spot formerly held by Little Charlie. The songs are as good or better as always. If you haven't bought this CD, do it now and if you have an opportunity to see them live, go see them, you won't regret it. And check out J. Hansen's own release "Give the Drummer Some"

I have to admit, I was skeptical with the departure of Charlie Baty that this would be a good recording, but I must say being a great Nightcats fan all of my life, this is one of my favorite recordings. Obviously more harmonica-oriented with Rick taking the lead and deftly more instrumental and funky. Great variety around the blues core. See these guys live. It is an experience. I hope Alligator Records gets some extra "props" for this one.

They miss, and I miss,Charlie Baty. But that being said, this is a more than respectable debut from the new unit. Worth a purchase.

Those of us who thought the departure of Little Charlie would change/deplete the Nightcats sound have no worries! Twisted carries on the good time, blues rocking,butt wiggling boogie woogie tradition we've come to know and love ! Kid Anderson does a great job of carrying on the technically perfect, original, fun , and innovative guitar lick established by Little Charlie. And Rick is well.....RICK !! Enjoy.
