I’ve seen some 1 star reviews on this album, which is absolutely crazy to me. The 1 stars are probably all from pop fans or something. This is where Metallica’s style changed, but I’m glad it did! Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the thrash in the first 4 albums, but then they play heavy?? Oho! So now I can listen to awesome thrash and heavy metal! Some of my favorite tracks on this album: Enter Sandman, Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, Sad but True, Nothing Else Matters. They did a spectacular job recording this album!! And don’t even bother looking at alwosisi’s rating, its just so stupid.

This is why Metallica isn’t a true thrash band anymore

Metallica fans are the worst. The band has never been able to do what they want to do without their putrid audience throwing a tantrum about it and then complaining even more when they get what they want. Just like so called Dream Theater fans too. I for one enjoy this album for what it is, and yeah it’s commercial but it’s also Metallica’s heaviest, arguably the last time they expanded heaviness in metal music (Pantera would take over a year later in that department). How anyone could dislike Sad But True is beyond me, and I think The Struggle Within is by far the most underrated song from the band. I’m not too big a fan of Holier Than Thou, but cmon Enter Sandman is an across the boards classic song in any genre man! Their thrash days were legendary, and they will never ever go back to when they had that drive and anger and passion. But this is truly the album that capped that era off, and although I do kinda see peoples point about the Loads I still like them (yeah you can complain about THAT era of the band, leave this one alone!). You wonder why this album outsold The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon in the United States? It wasn’t merely that it was just a commercial album, it’s something more. I do however understand people getting on about Nothing Else Matters (which for many is the only Metallica song they know unfortunately) I think it’s a lovely song though! Be grateful to God they didn’t go Britney Spears pop and get over it!
