The Chemical Brothers have always been a bit more experimental and playful when compared to other electronic artists. This album expands upon their more percussive and less “clean” tendencies, while also blending sounds from other genres including folk and, most notably, underground hip-hop. The rap sounds classic in style, and merges pretty well with the rebellious theme of the album as a whole. If you’re a fan of chemical brothers and their usual tendencies, but are interested in hearing them expand a bit into other realms, this album is a great fit. There are pieces reminiscent of past and future works on this album, and there’s no doubt that the chemical brothers specific identity is shining through a crowd of welcome new guests and sounds. Wonderful! (Also, in typical chemical brothers fashion, great for a party as a complete and uninterrupted album.)
  • Not ANYTHING like Exit Planet Dust...which is not a "good" thing.

I loved many songs and still liked the rest on EPD. This doesn't sound ANYTHING like techno. It's NOT a techno/electronica cd but more like a new album by a new artist which may be what they went for...except they left their FANS out of their line-up. I like one song but if you didn't know who it was you'd never think/guess it was TCB's
