although all of the albums already surpass expectations, the monsters album hits a spot that i feel no other does. It’s experimental but perfect in its own way, a good balance of voice, distortion, and instrumentals in one. But the deciding factor was mainly the lyrics in some songs such as brooklyn -Been listening to the youtube version long enough to just finally cave in and buy it on itunes. Wish i bought the signed album at the LA concert when i had the chance, and had regretted not buying it ever since. no regrets for this purchase😊it’s nothing but the best of vibes

Monsters what the first album that I encountered from The Midnight. It was love at first sight. Haha
So, this made me delve deeper and deeper into their album and song lists. It’s quite amazing what they have done, and I hope they keep it up.
Listen to the words, listen to the beat, listen to the stories that are being told. As a side note, and not being at the top of my favorite list of cuts off this album, but City Dreams Interlude just does it for me. It’s like the album is taking you back to the beginning but only to realize its just a memory now… something that I absolutely love about this album.

I've been a fan of The Midnight since 2017, and even though this album is different than their previous ones, it's still a fantastic album. "America Online" and "Dance With Somebody" are absolute classics already. Love all the 80's/90's references and, as always, the retro aesthetic. Keep it up, guys. You're doing awesome.

What on Earth are some people here talking about? You want nostolgia? How about "Seventeen", "Prom Night" and "Last Train"? Or how about the cover of this album which is basically my room growing up!..LOL. This album is no different than any other Midnight album, it's PURE gold. I swear "Prom Night" made me fall in love with a girl I don't even know, LOL.

Going more towards pop and less synthwave

I love The Midnight and was really looking forward to this album. But, after listening to it as a whole, I feel like they’re straying away from the pumping synthwave sound and going more toward a slower, softer pop style. It started out great with the first three tracks, but then loses me with the song Dream Away. It doesn’t even sound like a Midnight song.
However, the songs Search for Ecco and Fire In the Sky are really good, so it begins to pick back up and feel like The Midnight. But then, Monsters and Brooklyn just feel out of place, especially Brooklyn. Then I realized it’s a remade version from the singer’s country side project. I really hope they go back to the sound from Nocturnal (their best album, IMO) and Endless Summer. I understand musicians need to grow, but this is not the direction I was hoping for. We’ll see. Their Amazon exclusive Horror Show sounds promising. Still a fan though.
