Full Bloom brings so many elements from early albums with a modern and different twist that gets better with every spin!
It is what it is

You are in denial if you keep expecting them to duplicate the blue album. They are older and don’t have the same vocal ability to make the more aggressive music they did 20+ years ago.
This is a mild album focusing on the island reggae vibes. “Braver” and “Need Somebody” is as about as close as they are going to get to the old sound.
Standout tracks are:
Need Somebody, Full Bloom, Persimmon, All You’ve Seen and Braver.
Great album

I do not give 311 credit unless its due. Im a harsh critic of music and movies. I dont understand the dislike for these songs. 1-3 are classic 311 that are great. The title track has the most newer classic 311 edge. 4 is flat but builds to the end and get better. This is my least liked song on the album. 5 is very good but a little too poppy. Nothing like Uplifter poppy but its there. Really enjoy the song though. 6-9 are new age 311 songs. They are not what you are expecting from the band but you cant help but hear the maturity in the music. Lyrics always have some cheeze but thats 311. Nothing cringy at all. These are well thought our songs that the band members are living. Im living it too so maybe thats why I take to the songs so much when they are what YOU WANTED on a 311 record. We didnt know we needed these chiller songs and neither did the band apparently during writing music pre recording. My absolute favorite track is 6, New Heights. Its an unbelievable songs that the band has never done before. Who does a slow dancehall song? Thats like oxymoronic…. Track 10 is awesome if you look up the lyrics and understand they were written from the perspective of the collected native american tribes before and during the battle of little bighorn. Wish Tarantino would direct the music video as a time piece. Its would be unreal. Album is great. Just not what youre expecting. After 34 years with all the same members, Im down for the 311 yacht rock record. Maybe youll get more of what you wanted on album 15. Never know with these guys.
Feeling the flows!

I’ve only just listened to the samples of each song and I’m already feeling these vibes. Hence the only 4 stars just yet. 311 has always seemed to find a connection to my soul and I’m feeling a deeper introspective exploration in this album. I can’t wait to give it a thorough listen but I’m already feeling a huge positive connection and excited to listen to this journey and share it with friends. Don’t ever stop! Systems in place!
**UPDATE** so after several listens in its entirety I can’t get certain tracks out of my head in a great way. There are several songs that the hook has really grabbed me and I keep hearing even when not listening to the actual song. So a solid album with a continued tradition of positivity being a message and sonic feel throughout. Really gave me goosebumps listening to it because while the lyrics aren’t the most poetically put (they are more plainly sung) they hit in a very relevant way. One thing I keep getting on most of the songs is all the band instruments talking to one another and reaching a really nice sonic synergy. Pleasantly surprising album.
It’s really good

14 albums. This is by far their worst. Understandable though given their age and history. I’ll give them a free pass. Hoping they bounce back on the next one
