A Terrific Recording of a Terrific Show

I was fortuanate to see this production right after it opened in 1983. I was expecting a cute antique of a show, and was totally surprised to see a sophisticated, funny and musically astonishing show. The original cast recording (please, iTunes, stop calling these "soundtracks"; soundtracks are movie soundtracks, "cast recordings" are recorded theatrical productions) is a well-done representation of the musical, using the original orchestrations from the '30's, which sounds fresh, considering how old they are. If you like Rodgers and Hart or Golden-Age Broadway, you won't want to miss this. The only drawback to a recording is, of course, we don't get to see the great Balanchine choreography. This show would be a good revival to see again.
