Whomever wrote the review of the album should be relieved of his or her job! Who are you to make judgments about this man,his music and the "appropriateness"of the style and orchestration. Commentary...fine. Judgment....NOT

I LOVE Al Jarreau and I Love holiday music, so I was thrilled when "Christmas" was released. I have not been disappointed. I have listened to this CD over and over, but "White Christmas" is by far my favorite selection. I just may find myself listening to this CD in February.
Excellent Christmas Choice

I do not remember where I saw this album, but I did my i Tune search to listen to the songs and decide if It was worth it to get it...Wowwwww! I made a reservation online to pick it up next day. It is just extraordinary well done and performed. I do really like his voice and this time he made the traditional Christmas songs so pleasant to hear...it is just the swing and the ups and downs of his voice that make this album such a great gift to all of those that like Al. Believe me, it is worth it to buy it. It is a lovely CD for any Christmas holiday
A pleasant surprise!

Okay I have to honest here: I was skeptical at first when I heard about Mr. Jarreau's plans to release a Christmas CD this season. As a fan of his for many years now I still miss the days when his music was more jazzy (Look to the rainbow), and hate the commercialized stuff he came out with in the past (L is for Lovers??). But this CD is great! I love it! Of course it fits the holiday season perfectly, but it also shows his skills, the warmth in his voice, the way only he is able to deliver a song, to make it his own, and to take us away with it. Awesome job. Way to go.
It Was Worth The Wait

Al Jarreau had been featured on a number of label projects regarding Christmas and this is his very first Christmas cd of his own. Songs recorded by Al on other projects are "Silent Night," "Celebrate Me Home," "Christmas Morning," and "Peggy Virginia" which all would have fit here to hone his recordings but no matter, those songs are available here on iTunes.
This cd is pure Al complete with his playfulness and modulation improvs and all the songs and smooth jazz arrangements work well with his Jarreauisms and is a treat for fans of Al and those who want a diversion from the usual holiday fare of carols performed straight-forward with adhesion to the arrangements and no personality. Even with it's jazz fusion arrangements this cd is timeless.

I just bought this CD "on sight" (i.e...w/out judgement) and played the entire thing coming from work...Saying that this artist is amazing is an understatement . God Bless You "Professor Jarreau ".

Well, it is about time Jarreau produces his first holiday recording! And it was worh the wait! His voice always makes me happy. So the combination of Jarreau and Christmas is Heaven sent! This is a must have for the holidays. Jarreau brings a new fresh twist to 15 classics. Enjoy!
