I know it's because my entire impression of the Drops comes from the Dona Gotta Ramblin' Mind album but man, this sounds like a departure in the wrong direction. The addition of drums and rap style vocals have taken away the timeless quality that songs like Short Life of Trouble have, which I think, is why folks were so drawn to this band. They're like a musical time machine, but if that time time machine only takes to twenty minutes ago instead of the deep south in the early 1900's, it's just not as cool.
Great band

The collaboration between these two groups produced something altogether new and magical, especially the track, "Knockin'" Knockin' is a Luminescent Orchestrii number that was recorded on an older album featuring Rhiannon Giddens and Sxip Shirey. These guys turn it up a notch with this recording and the result is more melodious blend of sounds. The less impressive track is "Hit 'Em Up Style" which has become the Chocolate Drops most popular song on the airwaves lately. Unfortunately, this pairing doesn't really bring anything new to the song. But overall...a great EP! Would have been nice to have gotten an entire album from this collaboration! Maybe in the future?
GREAT !!!!!!

This one is a bit different from their last one, but not TOO different. I like how they're incorporating a bit of the new into their Americana music.
Awesome
