This is such a work, no words I say would do. I first heard Gillian on O Brother Where Art Thou and saw her perform in a live tribute to the movie. I was captivated by her beauty in mind, body, spirit though misic. Her and Dave are a cosmic union meant as a gift for us. A remarkble work.
They got me hooked!

For me this is the Americana album of the year, if not the the decade. Welch and Rawlings' musical hearts beat as one.

I can't give an analysis of someone's music, all I can say is what I felt when I saw them. I was in tears, I laughed, I was in AWE!!! I am going to buy every song that they've ever done. THANK YOU GILLIAN AND DAVE!!! Please continue to do what you love! I need this kind of quality in my life!!!
Just Keep Getting Better

Rawlings playing is just scary. How can anyone be that good? Maybe you actually can sell your soul to the devil! Welch is, of course, fantastic. I saw them in concert three days ago, only had their first album. This is the kind of music that you can't listen to too many times! Two un-positive reviews here (Eh, more of the same)complain about the lack of 'change'.. No - Rawlings and Welch have grown and gotten even better in the past decade. If you want something different - buy Emmy Lou or Allison Kraus. If they had 'changed' the same folks would be complaining about that. Their live performance is better, of course, than their recorded and their live performance is, for my taste, the best I've ever been to.

This is one of the most beautiful albums I've heard in a long time. One song after another tells a different story with an amazing voice. The melodies are gorgeous and the lyrics are so poignant and delicately simple. There are several songs that always bring me close to tears, even though they're not especially sad. Listening to this album can be such a moving experience.
