Reviews

  • Great album but the other review is for a different album

The previous review is for Bette's second album "Bette Midler," not her live album, which showcases her in all her 1970s onstage divinity and includes the "Intermission" hit single "You're Moving Out Today," by Carol Bayer Sager and Bruce Roberts, one of the best performances of her long and varied recording career. "I'm singing la-la is because I'm so happy you're going, gosh you've made me miserable..." As Robert Christgau titled his chapter in his book "Grown Up All Wrong," "Bette Midler Sings Everything." She does, and brilliantly.

What a great album. I saw her at this concert in Cleveland and always wished that I bought a recording of this show. Now at Last I can have this soundtrack of all the songs she did that day. Thank You ITunes Bill
  • Great Time Capsule of a great performer.

I have seen Bette in concert a dozen times over the years and this album is so much fun. It captures the wit of one the best Entertainers of this century. She sings, dances, and tells jokes with the agility of a tightrope walker. The ballads are always great and especially when Bette sings about love and loss. "Shiver Me Timbers" intro is one of the best transitions to a song, from cheerful to the painful "to just get away" voice inflection, she instantly takes you to the heart of the song. No better live performer today, and this partial album is a good sampling of that. And if you get to sad, just listen to the Sophie Tucker jokes and you are laughing out loud again. Thanks again Miss M, you will never be forgotten as long as time capsules like this exist.
