    THESE SONGS ARE AMAZING
  • Lacks pace

I am normally a big Ed Sheeran fan and realize that a lot of his music is slow paced. This album, however, totally lacks any songs with energy. I get that a lot of it is about the loss/illness of a friend, but in listening to it, it is one slow and mostly boring song after another. It has no songs inserted here or there to pick up the pace. While there are a couple of good songs here and there, you can see by the songs being sold off of it, that there are only a couple of stand out tunes. I am not someone that wants an album full of pop hits, but it would be nice to have some songs you could tap your feet to rather than sit and cry for an hour plus!

Ed has reinvented himself once again. Vocals have an ease that not common nowadays and the lyrics have meaning and a message. Best album to date.

This album is amazing. These songs tell a story and the words, while dark at times, are relatable. These songs evoke so many emotions and there is quite a variety in the melodies. Ed’s work never stops amazing me. And hearing the songs live brought a whole other layer to them. Highly recommend!
  • What's Wrong with People!?

This album was as close to perfection as I've heard with any other album or, that I believe that you could get. It was a beautiful outpouring from Ed’s heart and mind and soul/Spirit, that was so open and honest and vulnerable- that many of us can and hopefully will learn from him (especially men). It takes a lot of courage, a lot of kahunas, to put your personal business out there, as a single man, to the whole world to judge you and give feedback on your work; which is based on your life, making it all the more sensitive. Also to put your feelings and emotions out there. I think this album is so nice and tight, and consistent- that personally appealed to me. And it was not made to appeal to the masses who may prefer to hear positive, light, or happy things-which I think too many pop artists do; or at least avoid talking about anxiety, depression, darkness, suicide etc. I personally am at a sensitive time in my life, so I only listened to what and when I felt I could handle and it really made me feel like I could relate to a lot of his experience. A lot of people have gone through these things or will go through these things especially in this age, and we need albums like this so we can connect and know we're not alone. I also like that he mixed up the lighter stuff/songs with the darker ones which is also true to our human experience- it's not all just bad all the time. He even interspersed lighter and darker bits within individual songs. That helped pick me up, made me feel lighter. It is obvious that this album went through his experiences of the last couple years, in that way he played to one of his strengths as a songwriter- which is storytelling, as he told his own story. His lyrics were spot on- I mean all the songs were so intelligently crafted, same old Ed Sheeran that we have always loved. He's inspired me and my songwriting. And I love that this album really brings back his voice that we we're used to before =’s; that really just gets you right in the heart, and he even challenges himself to go to new places vocally. I just so appreciate him doing this album, I could definitely see how it was a therapeutic processing for him- but also he gave to us- the listeners. I would have to say that he is at the top of his game! And I'm glad he's in a better place now.
