This album is impeccable. Extremely well written and produced, If Only For One Night is the definitive Luther Vandross record. When he slides into Creepin' the romance level goes from 10 to 11. Not one mediocre song on the record. And his VOICE is AMAZING! Truly lightning in a bottle.

It's clearly a toss up for me on which one of Luther's albums in my opinion is the best. Is it #2 For Ever, For Always, For Love, #3 Busy Body, or #4 the Night I Fell In Love!! Now considering I was born in 1974 and most of these albums I was only 7, 9, and 11 years old respectively, it's a wonder I appreciated Luther at all at such a tender age. I thank my parents for that. I think The Night I Fell In Love is the Best. Who can ever forget -- "Creep Creep, she creep she creep creep creep she creeps or sing it for me 4 times -- Creep Creep Creep Creep!! Unbelieveable!!" :-)

I went on a 4,000 mile trip in my brand new red 86 1/2 toyota supra -- travelled from southern california up to Vancouver Canada to the EXPO then slowly back in the states until I got to Austin Texas--and then eventually back to SoCal -- and this album was a staple that I must have played 200+times. Its got tunes that just rocked me on down the road in the best way possible!!

This is the BEST album of his entire catalog! I was only 9 or 10 years old when this album was dropped; however, I discovered early on that this dude was extra-special. This album is very nostalgic and should be in EVERYONE's collection - especially if they call them selves "music people".
