Luther Vandross was and still is one of the greatest singers of all time! I especially love Dance With My Father. It holds a special meaning. This coming Father's Day will be the second since my dad's passing. As the song so beautifully goes..for I'd love love love to dance with my father again. R.I.P. Luther and R.I.P. dad!

Luther Vandross has left this Earth but what a legacy to have left behind! This last complete album "Dance With My Father" is a testament to how his soulful crooning has become a background track for so many people. You can either listen to it or just let it play and feel whatever you wish to feel, comfortable in Luther's rich vocals and soulful mood.
Obviously the titular track is the most famous (and a wonderful song in its own right), but to rely on it as the anchor to the album does the rest of it a disservice. "The Closer I Get To You," his duet with Beyonce was wonderfully arranged, and "They Said You Needed Me" shows what a master Luther was at keeping your ear, even with the simplest of songs (in regard to his voice). Not his best work, the album still manages to make you happy you purchased it - and I DO recommend purchasing it vs. all of the so-called "best hits" albums around.
Adding "Dance With My Father" is a wise choice for not only Luther Vandross fans, but fans of the soulful crooning that is almost lost among the overblown so-called talent that fills the R&B airwaves these days.
