Well, “new” in 1973. My very first exposure to The Boss was when he graced the cover of Time with Born to Run. I heard that album and immediately went out and bought every album in the lexicon to “catch me up”. His first album actually remains my favorite, largely due to the “raw” nature of a young Springsteen and E-Street band. Lost in the Flood and Mary Queen of Arkansas hearken back to old, blues music - though now with a rock bent on the older genre. IMO, he would not capture this again until Nebraska. It’s over 40 years old, and I’d listen to this any day, which says a lot, since “classic rock” generally bores me.

Superstardom in the 80s with “Born in the USA” turned me off to Bruce when I was a teen. I never heard these early songs then. When I finally heard "Lost In the Flood” it totally floored me. Amazing vocals. "Deep tracks" have always ruled in Classic Rock. Gotta love it.

The sound difference between the needs-to-be-remastered CD and this new MFiT version is pretty great. There's much more separation and clarity, and a lot of the muddiness is gone, which is impressive for a 40-year old album. If being 'Mastered for iTunes' is this effective across other titles, I'm definitely going to look at buying more albums.
New Jersey Beach Anthems

This album is full of classic New Jersey beach anthems that show where springsteens music was influenced directly. Its a gem for any collection and a must have for any Springsteen fan! For those of you who wrote wrong reviews saying Springsteen covered "Blinded By the Light", he wrote that song, then Mannfred Mann covered it in 1977.

People forget Bruce wrote Blinded by the Light. I think this is one of the most underrated albums.

Great debut; excellent album. Too bad Springsteen has been bent for decades over Manfred Mann taking Blinded by the Light and making it about 10,000 times better.
