The first time I heard this album I was at a house party when I was a teen in highschool and an older 20 some year old guy brought out a record player and dropped the needle on the B side of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Killing yourself to live came on and it lit up my world. We were high and having a great time and it was the best and still Is the best 🤘
  • Another great album.

I used to give this album a four star rating, then notched it up to five stars when I saw that I put all eight of these songs on my Black Sabbath playlist on ITunes! Sabbath’s most experimental album up to that point, with a lot of keyboards and synthesizers, but still quite heavy when it needs to be. The title track is a masterpiece and one of the best Black Sabbath songs period. Ozzy sounds amazing on this song, though he would never be able to hit them high notes in concert. I love Ozzy’s singing on the whole album. Every song here is a classic in it’s own unique way, almost overflowing with personality. A bit mellow in places, yes, with the beautiful instrumental Fluff and the intro for Spiral Architect. And Who Are You is built around a synthesizer melody, written and played by Ozzy. Love the lyrics on the album as well. My Mom would not let my brothers and I buy this album at first, because of the front cover. She finally caved in after the album got a big recommendation from our priest!!!
